GSE Professor Tina Anctil has been appointed by Governor Kitzhaber to serve a three-year term on the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists. Dr. Anctil is an associate professor in the Counselor Education Department and the coordinator of the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program, which is currently ranked in the top 25 in the country by US News.
Dr. Anctil brings a wealth of experience to the board having worked for over 19 years in the field of professional counseling at the Oregon Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, OHSU, WSU, and PSU. Her research is concerned with career development and counseling for adolescents and people with disabilities, for which she has published and presented articles and papers. In addition, she has been Principal Investigator on 11 successful grants. “This is particularly timely for the field of rehabilitation counseling as we address accreditation changes and health care reform,” she said.
“We are very excited that Dr. Anctil has been elected to the board,” said Counseling Department Chair Rick Johnson, who has also served on the board. “She will represent our department, the GSE, and PSU wonderfully. Her expertise as a licensed counselor and certified rehabilitation counselor will serve her well in the role.”
Dr. Anctil’s term on the board is three years, but board members may be reappointed for a second term.
