Jan Abramovitz, PhD
A new assistant professor in Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Jan Abramovitz, holds a master’s from Columbia University Teachers College and a doctorate from OSU. He was formerly on the dance education faculty at New York University and Lesley University. He enjoys working with children as a teaching artist for The Vibrant Classroom and The Right Brain Initiative.
Joel Lane, PhD
The Counselor Education department welcomes Dr. Joel Lane from Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Lane was active in advocacy for the counseling profession in Michigan where he was a Licensed Professional Counselor. He completed his doctorate in counselor education at Oakland University in the Detroit, Michigan area. He will teach courses at PSU in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
Christopher Pinkney, PhD
The Department of Special Education welcomes assistant professor, Dr. Christopher Pinkney, who comes to GSE from California. He has an MA in special education from California State Stanislaus, but got his duck feet at the University of Oregon where he completed his doctorate. He will be teaching secondary special education courses.
Samuel Sennott, PhD
Special education assistant professor, Dr. Samuel Sennott, is a technology early adopter. He has written and published an app for smart phones, Proloquo2Go, that enables people without speaking ability to communicate. He has a doctorate from The Pennsylvania State University and will be working on language, literacy, and universal design. His assignments will include teaching assistive technology at the GSE.
Kathryn van Asselt, PhD
The Department of Counselor Education welcomes Dr. Kathryn van Asselt from Capella University. She is from Colorado where she holds licenses in counseling and school counseling. Her scholarly work focuses on leadership and advocacy. She completed her doctoral work at the University of Northern Colorado.
