GSE faculty member Deve Swaim receives national honor

D. Swaim4Deve Swaim, MS, a Graduate Teacher Education Program instructor, cohort leader, and the program coordinator for secondary licensure in the Curriculum and Instruction Department, has been selected for induction into the North American Society for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance, (AAHPERD). This induction recognizes outstanding professionals from within the professions of health education, physical education, recreation, sport and dance.

Ms. Swaim will be inducted into the 2013 Class at the AAHPERD national convention Wednesday, April 24, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

AAHPERD is a 20,000-member organization, representing five national associations broken into six districts, and a research consortium, for professionals involved in physical education, recreation, fitness, sports and coaching, dance, health education and promotion, and all specialties related to achieving a healthy and active lifestyle.

  1. This honor is for creative work, sustained over a long period of time, and having a national influence.
    Deve certainly showed influential work in GTEP over a long time span, and developed many teachers and teaching concepts/applications for the next generation.
    She was a joy and inspiration to partner with in cohorts; I learned much from her.
